Support

Clear answers, without asking for your clipboard.

Start with the essentials, understand each permission, and solve common issues while keeping sensitive copied content out of support messages.

Getting started

From first launch to first find.

Download the signed and notarized Mac release, then follow these steps to start capturing clips.

  1. 1

    Open Stowmark

Look for the Stowmark pocket icon in the menu bar. The app is designed to remain available without occupying the Dock.

  2. 2

    Review local history

On first use, Stowmark explains that new copies are stored locally before clipboard monitoring begins.

  3. 3

    Copy something useful

Copy normally in another app, then open Stowmark from the menu bar or with Shift–Command–V.

  4. 4

    Choose your paste mode

Use copy-only behavior without direct insertion, or explicitly enable one-click paste and grant the macOS access it needs.

Keyboard reference

Keep both hands on the thought.

If Shift–Command–V is already owned by another app, Stowmark automatically tries Option–Command–V.

⇧⌘V

Permissions

You decide when direct paste is allowed.

Stowmark separates clipboard capture from the extra access needed to put a saved item directly into another app.

01

Clipboard access

macOS may ask before Stowmark reads new copies. Approving it allows local clipboard history.

02

Accessibility

Used to remember and update the focused input when you explicitly request one-click paste.

03

Event posting

Used only for the Command–V fallback when direct insertion is not available for a clip or target.

To review access

  1. Open Stowmark Settings and choose General.
  2. Select Review Access.
  3. Follow the link to macOS System Settings and enable Stowmark only for the access you intend to use.
  4. Return to Stowmark; the status refreshes automatically.

Troubleshooting

Start with the smallest check.

How do I use my copied text on a web desktop?

Open the Stowmark web app and sign in with the same email and password as your Mac and iPhone. The page can list, search, copy, add, and remove synced text. Browsers cannot monitor the clipboard in the background, so choose Import Clipboard or paste text into the add box while the page is open.

The shortcut opens another clipboard app

Try Option–Command–V. Stowmark uses it as a fallback when Shift–Command–V cannot be registered. The menu-bar icon always remains available.

A clip was copied but did not appear

Confirm capture is not paused, review clipboard approval in macOS, and check whether the source app marks that item as concealed or sensitive.

One-click paste returns to the wrong place

Focus the intended input, reopen Stowmark, and select the clip again. Review Accessibility and event-posting access if the permission status changed.

I want to remove local history

Delete individual clips from their context menu or use Clear History in Settings. Commercial license changes never delete existing history.

I have an old PasteNow library

On first launch, Stowmark can copy compatible entries from the preserved PasteNow database into its own local store without changing or deleting the original files.

An older website install does not show automatic updates

Builds created before the signed updater was added need one manual bridge update. After that, direct-download builds can offer Check for Updates and user-controlled automatic checks and downloads. Mac App Store builds update through Apple instead.

Does “Deactivate This Mac” cancel my subscription?

No. Deactivation only frees one device seat. To stop renewal for a direct purchase, open Manage Billing and continue to Stripe. Apple subscriptions are managed through the purchaser’s Apple Account.

Will the iPhone app monitor everything I copy?

No. iOS restricts background clipboard monitoring. The companion is designed around explicit Paste and Share actions, plus an optional keyboard for inserting clips you already saved.

Safe support

Share the problem, not the private content.

Never send clipboard contents, live license keys, payment credentials, Apple credentials, or screenshots containing private data in a support request.
